Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP Functional Expert to serve as the foundational Capability Lead for our new S/4HANA practice based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, mostly targeting the Japanese market. This role is highly strategic and operational, requiring an individual to both define the functional consulting strategy and actively build the methodology, standards, and talent pool from scratch. The ideal candidate possesses deep SAP ECC / S/4HANA functional knowledge, proven leadership in building new capabilities, and excellent pre-sales acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Capability Development & Leadership (60%)
- Strategy & Build: Define the functional offering, service methodology, and implementation standards for S/4HANA projects tailored for Japanese customer requirements (e.g., specific reporting, regulatory, or business processes).
- Talent Development: Identify, mentor, and grow a team of local functional consultants, establishing training programs and knowledge transfer mechanisms.
- Asset Creation: Develop internal accelerators, reusable functional components, and presentation materials related to S/4HANA functional modules (e.g., Finance, Logistics, Manufacturing).
- Quality Assurance: Establish quality gates and best practices for functional solution delivery within the practice.
Pre-Sales & Customer Engagement (40%)
- Functional Expertise: Act as the primary functional expert in pre-sales cycles, leading discovery sessions, conducting workshops, and presenting complex S/4HANA capabilities to Japanese C-level executives and business stakeholders.
- Solution Scoping: Translate high-level customer business requirements into detailed, scope-defined functional solutions, estimates, and statements of work (SOWs).
- Proposal Development: Contribute functional content and value propositions to complex RFP responses and proactive business proposals.
- Cross-Cultural Communication: Ensure clear and culturally appropriate communication when engaging with Japanese clients, demonstrating strong business etiquette and an understanding of the client landscape.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in SAP ECC and S/4HANA implementations, with deep expertise in at least two core functional modules (e.g., FI/CO, SD/MM).
- Proven track record of successfully building, leading, or significantly contributing to the establishment of a new practice area or capability within a consulting organization.
- Extensive experience in pre-sales activities, including leading client presentations, demonstrating functional solutions, and developing project estimates.
- Hands-on experience with multiple full lifecycle S/4HANA implementations.
- Based in Vietnam with a willingness to travel as required, particularly to Japan and other south-east Asian countries.
- Strong communication skills and professional ability to interface with clients from the Japanese business culture.
Preferred Skills (Differentiators)
- SAP S/4HANA Certification (specific module).
- Familiarity with the Japanese regulatory and business environment.
- Any proficiency in the Japanese language is a significant advantage.
- Experience with SAP Activate methodology.
